black_box_detox @ Ars Electronica

black_box_detox is an invitation to immerse, subvert, and reimagine our relationship with complex technologies. In a world of invisible algorithms and closed devices, artists unbox tech to create new, meaningful relationships that go beyond the paradigms of capitalism and control. Inventing interfaces and tinkering with models, code, and data circumvents blackboxing so that we can rediscover, re-engineer, and reconnect with our invisible and planetary networks.

black_box_detox explores unseen natural and synthetic forces that shape our lives: neural networks, algorithms, biorhythms, bird calls, fibre optics, and AI-powered mineral prospecting. These collaborations between artists and researchers instill technology with creative care, resulting in artistic robotics, generative poetics, and devices that reveal rather than conceal.
